Hilton Times Square
Hotel Information: From its long marble entrance hallway, the Hilton Times Square ushers guests up to its airy 21st-floor lobby, which has floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking 42nd Street.
Opened in 2000, the hotel is central to Times Square and the Theater District, and attracts primarily businesspeople during the week, with vacationers arriving on weekends.
Below the hotel lobby, occupying floors 1-20, are shops, restaurants, and entertainment including a movie theater. Broadway, midtown, Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State Building are one-to-nine blocks away.
Amenity highlights: The Hilton’s 21st-floor Restaurant Above offers bird's-eye views of the city and New American cuisine; Pinnacle Bar in the lobby has a selection of lighter fare in addition to the main menu.
The 24-hour business center provides high-speed Internet access, as well as faxing, printing, and copying services. Wireless Internet access is available throughout the hotel.
Guests may use weights and exercise equipment in the fitness room, or purchase discount passes to the health club across the street.
Insider tip: The hotel is two blocks from Bryant Park, which is adjacent to the New York Public Library. In late June, July, and August, the HBO Summer Film Festival shows free classic movies in the park Monday nights at sundown; the green fills up quickly, so moviegoers should bring a picnic blanket and arrive early.
This New York hotel has 444 guestrooms, on floors 23-43. All feature panoramic city views, marble-tiled baths, designer toiletries, bathrobes, and stocked minibars.
All rooms include the Hilton Serenity Bed: pillowtop mattress, down duvet, and hypoallergenic feather/down pillows.
Wired, wireless, TV-based, and dial-up Internet access are available (surcharge for all), as are multi-line phones with voice mail, MP3 and CD players, pay movies, and video games (surcharge).
